Ian McKellen stars in this reimagining of Anthony Quinn’s novel, _Curtain Call_, a story of ambition, blackmail and desire set in 1930s London.

When Jimmy Erskine (McKellen) the Daily Chronicle's most famous and feared theatre critic finds himself under threat from his new boss (Mark Strong) he strikes a sinister Faustian pact with a struggling actress (Gemma Arterton) who is desperate to win his favour.As all three become entangled in a whodunnit, their strange triangle winds tighter and tighter to devastating effect for all those caught in the deadly web of blackmail and betrayal.
