The peaceful scenery, the rolling Devon Hills, the sand, the sea and fine food and Drink... If you’re looking for a honeymoon closer to home after you’ve tied the knot, Exeter and its stunning surroundings is just the ticket.
After your big day, retreat to Exeter’s gorgeous countryside locations, where there are a handful of delightful B&Bs and self-catering apartments perfectly set up for a wonderful first getaway as a married couple. Hire a Co-Car and explore the nearby World Heritage Jurassic Coastline or to the closest hiking spot and open up a picnic packed with local goodies whilst taking in breath-taking views.
If the city scene is more your thing, Exeter’s centrally-located hotels are full of character, yet provide a peaceful sanctuary after a busy day exploring.
Head to our glorious Exeter Quayside and hire a paddleboard, canoe or kayak at Saddles & Paddles or AS Watersports, hop on a Co-Bike and follow the Exe Estuary Trail, challenge yourself at the Quay Climbing Centre (the South West’s largest climbing centre!) or swing through the trees at Go Ape Haldon Forest – our city has endless opportunity for adventure and we guarantee you’ll leave us having tried something new.
Fascinated in history? Visit our magnificent Exeter Cathedral and dive into years of history, join an Exeter Red Coat Guided Tour for Exeter’s secrets and head to our award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum for a voyage of discovery from pre-history to the present day.
You’ve been busy planning a wedding, it’s only fair that you treat yourselves on your honeymoon! Exeter is packed with many of the country’s favourite high street brands at Princesshay and Guildhall Shopping Centre, yet is a fantastic independent shopping hub amongst its hidden shopping quarters. You haven’t been to Exeter if you haven’t wined and dined – if you’re big foodies like we are, you’ll be spoilt for choice for divine restaurants serving the freshest, locally-sourced produce.
