South Devon offers a wonderful, eclectic mix of stunning coastline and breath-taking countryside as well as quaint villages, bustling market towns and vibrant cities. With so much to explore, whatever your holiday desires, you’re sure to find your perfect getaway in South Devon.
The South Devon coastline is one of the most stunning parts of the UK with some of the best beaches in England. Some parts will make you feel as if you’ve suddenly been transported to the Algarve or the Mediterranean with a warm microclimate and palm trees in abundance. The entire coastline stretches around 125 miles from Seaton to Plymouth with many wonderful coastal communities, family friendly resorts, beautiful beaches, hidden coves and protected landscapes dotted along the way.
We’re incredibly lucky to have Dartmoor National Park on our doorstep with dramatic countryside scenery, farmland, river valleys and vast woodland. With 368 square miles of unadulterated beauty, Dartmoor is the place to experience pure freedom, being the largest and wildest area of open countryside in the South of England.
South Devon is also home to 2 large cities, Exeter and Plymouth, plus an abundance of picturesque towns and idyllic villages. Whether you’re interested in history, watersports, food or wildlife, there will certainly be a place for you to fall in love with in South Devon.

Experience the magic of Christmas in Exeter. Our historic city is the perfect place to celebrate the festive season. The festivities start on the 15th November with the opening of the Cathedral Christmas Market, and new for 2024 is the free Countdown to Christmas Trail!
The city is divided into distinct areas, or quarters, each with its own individual identity and something different to offer.
Exeter became the only UK destination in 2019 to be awarded UNESCO City of Literature status, recognised for its 1,000 year unbroken history of making books and popularising reading since the early 13th century.
