Exeter Bus Station closed in June 2018 to allow for a major redevelopment of the site, due for reopening in the winter of 2020, alongside a state-of-the-art new leisure complex called St Sidwell’s Point..
While the new bus station is being built, temporary measures will be in place to enable services to continue operating smoothly. A number of services will be able to remain in the current facility throughout the build period, and services that cannot be accommodated will be temporarily relocated to dedicated stands in Sidwell Street.
Information on services is displayed at the Stagecoach Travel Shop at the bus station. Passengers can access toilet facilities at Shopmobility in Paris Street and the St Sidwell’s Centre in Sidwell Street.
Information will be displayed on each of the temporary stands explaining which services will use them.

Exeter has a brand new tool to help showcase the city to visitors.
The new, mobile responsive website – www.visitexeter.com – was launched by Exeter City Council on 7 June, ready for the summer season. It showcases high quality imagery of Exeter, with a prominent section on the homepage giving inspiration on what to see and do. New functionality includes an integrated blog, where popular local guest bloggers will regularly provide interesting content, an online accommodation availability search, and an interactive map. There is also an up to date what’s on section, making it a useful resource for locals as well as visitors looking to experience more.
Catherine Hill, Tourism and Sport Manager at Exeter City Council said: ‘We are extremely proud of our city and all of its achievements, we are delighted to have launched a brand and website that can help us showcase the exciting experiences on offer in Exeter locally, nationally and internationally’.
The new Visit Exeter brand for was launched earlier this year, with a fresh, contemporary identity reflecting the city as it is today. Marketing activities are being centred on 8 experiences – Culture, Activities, Food & Drink, History & Heritage, Shopping, Relaxation, Nightlife and Business. The new website offers dynamic content for each experience, and allows visitors to browse things to do as part of each experience.
Councillor Rachel Sutton, Lead Councillor for Economy & Culture said: ‘We have known for some time how fantastic Exeter is as a place to live and visit. As locals we have seen some of the exciting progress such as the rise of the Exeter Chiefs to premiership champions, the opening of the brilliant Queen St dining and the influx of fantastic new attractions such as the Quay Climbing Centre. Now is a fantastic time for us to share our love for the city with the broader community and build our tourism economy’.
The site is live now and can be visited for up to date information about attractions, things to do, events and much more, head to www.visitexeter.com for more information.
