As a self-professed lover of all things retro and antique, I decided to pay a visit to The Antique Village and Auction Antiques located just 8 miles east of Exeter.
As a favoured location for Salvage Hunters and Bargain Hunt, I was intrigued to see for myself what the South West’s largest, multi-dealer antiques centre had to offer. I wasn’t disappointed…
What to expect
Located on a 4-acre site, the centre is home to a huge array of antiques, vintage, retro and salvage items from over 50 dealers.
The centre is well laid out with beautiful displays of antique, vintage and retro furniture, home décor, shrubs and bedding plants, curiosities, jewellery, statuary garden furniture and architectural salvage. The more you wander, the more you’ll discover all the things you never knew you wanted or needed!
There’s also a wood turner, a lampshade and cushion maker, a quality second-hand curtain trader and wonderfully fragrant and sustainably made soaps on sale from Somerset-based, Hog and Tallow.
It’s a brilliant place to find unique gifts and beautiful things for your home and garden.
The Dovetail Cafe
After a busy morning of browsing and buying (there’s a lot to explore!), it was lovely to discover the cosy Dovetail Café. Nestled amongst the antiques, the café provides a welcoming atmosphere and offers a range of speciality coffees, teas, light snacks, delicious cakes and soft drinks. Featured on the Exeter Food and Drink Trail, the café prides itself on using locally sourced products and ingredients.
Auction Saleroom
Unfortunately The Auction Antiques’ Saleroom wasn’t open on the day I visited, but it attracts a truly global audience with monthly sales of antique, vintage and retro furniture, collectables, jewellery, marine and scientific instruments, clocks, fashion and home décor.
Dog friendly
The centre is dog friendly, so why not combine your visit with a dog walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside!
Opening times and how to get there
The Centre is open Monday to Saturday between 10am to 4pm and is located 8 miles east of Exeter on the B3181 between Cullompton and Exeter.
