About

Established by photographer Charles Parsons and Julia Heppell in 2001, Polkadot Gallery started life as Polkadot Art Gallery and was based in Exeter’s South Street. It quickly became apparent that jewellery, a lifelong passion of Julia’s, was such a strong medium it warranted a dedicated gallery and so in 2003 began Polkadot Precious, based at 12 Martins Lane, Exeter. We’re still enjoying our spot along the cobbles, a stone's throw away from the Cathedral today, although we’re now known as Polkadot Gallery.

The gallery employs staff from jewellery making and art backgrounds, who are passionate about the work they sell and knowledgeable about both quality and design. 2016 saw us launch a new online store at www.polkadotgallery.com, allowing us sell our diverse and distinct collection worldwide.

Julia travels to Munich, Basle and Amsterdam to source fresh and interesting jewellery and to Copenhagen for Arne Jacobsen watches. Polkadot Gallery is also proud to encourage and exhibit the best of emerging and established designers Devon, Cornwall and Somerset have to offer. This eclectic mix of local and international makers gives our customers an unrivalled choice of contemporary jewellery.

From beautiful gold and platinum rings containing exquisite diamonds, to jewellery incorporating wood, titanium, porcelain and textiles, we have something to delight every taste. Our diverse collection includes work that pushes the boundaries and steps beyond conventional design and technique.

We believe that jewellery should enhance your individuality, withstand the test of time and be something you can truly treasure. This is why we strive to ensure every single Polkadot Gallery customer comes away with jewellery that is beautiful, meaningful and a joy to wear. Fairtrade is an important part of our ethos and most of our makers use sustainable metals and ethical stones.
