Rapidly changing musical colours, exploding gestures and fleeting melodies create a wondrous soundscape of a Starburst before the lofty melodies of Samuel Coleridge-Taylors Novelletten drifts back down to earth.

The sonic possibilities of string instruments are explored with 12 BSO musicians presenting a colourful programme also featuring Karl Jenkins beloved Palladio, Holsts charmingly bubbly and joyful St Pauls Suite and an ethereal Lullaby from Gershwin.

The concert will be presented by the musicians as they unravel the invisible strings entwining twentieth and twenty-first century music, composers from across the globe and their relationship with the BSO. A fascinating evening of musical exploration, for an audience of all ages.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras On Your Doorstep concerts bring specially designed mid-scale chamber ensembles to venues and audiences across the South West, in engaging programmes for families, new audiences and seasoned concert-goers alike an entertaining blend of music ranging from classical treats to more up-to-date favourites. Working with rural touring partners, they travel to venues across the South and South West, from village halls to community spaces in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Hampshire.
