A festival like no other, Sidmouth Sea Fest is an annual coastal community celebration that is held annually in the town featuring creativity, music and food which works to promote coastal living and celebrating the region’s fishing heritage.
The festival is produced by Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub, who aim to celebrate Sidmouth’s vibrant coastal community with a host of interesting events and workshops designed to educate about life on the coast. It is a fun filled quirky festival filled with collaborations with local community groups to celebrate everything in, on and by the sea. This free festival is great for all ages and encourages engagement through a host of activities to suit everyone. With workshops featuring arts and crafts, food and drink, live music and bands including the Sea Fest Coastal Community Choir, heritage fishing skills, games and more, everyone will be entertained all day long.
This year the theme is Driftwood & Thrift, creatively bringing focus on re- using and recycling, making and creating - to act responsibly to sustain our seas and use resources carefully. Driftwood is often a useful home for marine biodiversity and thrift is about reducing waste, managing well in difficult economic times as well as being a coastal plant!
Sidmouth Sea Fest is a single-use plastics free festival.
Sidmouth Sea Fest aims to bring the community together to celebrate all that is in on and by the sea to create a shared sense of pride and belonging in our beautiful coastal town and to attract visitors.
The festival encourages all those who run coastal activities, local/community groups or create coastal products to take part and help us to raise awareness of the value of our coast and the need to be responsible stewards of our coastal and marine environment, to promote sustainable development and responsible tourism and to have fun!
Sea Fest is run by volunteers and is a free community event welcoming residents and visitors. They value every donation, sponsorship and small grant that helps to cover the costs.
