About

It seems scarcely possible that it's 25 years since the passing of the band's legendary founder and figurehead Ian Dury.
Over the ensuing years, the Blockheads have very much kept the legacy of his outstanding contribution to British music alive and kicking.
For Blockheads newbies, the band were formed in 1977 to partner Ian Dury on the first Stiff Records UK tour promoting his now classic "New Boots ,& Panties " album leading to dizzy heights with chart topping singles and albums.
The current band still features joint main songwriter Chas Jankel and Mickey Gallagher (also of Animals fame) both on keyboards and guitarist John Turnbull augmented by longterm stalwarts John Roberts (drums), saxman extraordinaire Dave Lewis and new front man and vocalist, famed record producer Mike Bennett.
The original lineup has always been augmented with a host of great musicians including Wilko Johnson, Norman Watt-Roy, and Dylan Howe, son of Yes ' Steve Howe, dedicated to keeping the unique blend of rock, funk, jazz and music hall at the forefront of the British music scene.
To mark this milestone since Ian's passing, the band are embarking on a special tour featuring all the classic material and some lesser known gems to celebrate the life of one of the all-time greatest showmen, lyricist and incomparable vocalist!
Expect all the classics, "Sex & Drugs & Rock n' Roll", " Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick ",
"What a Waste", "Sweet Gene Vincent ", and "Reasons to be Cheerful " as well as new material from a recent album release
"Beyond the Call of Dury ".
The swagger, menace and humour of their former leader are now remarkably captured by front man Mike Bennett, who faithfully follows in Ian's footsteps whilst injecting his own unique style into proceedings and has built up an incredible rapport with audiences for his dynamic "in yer face" performances. Appealing to audiences young and old alike, no two Blockheads shows are ever the same!
If irreverent, masterful musicianship, high energy rock, funk, punk, new wave and jazz are your thing, don't miss this sensational band who are guaranteed to blow up a storm...and probably the roof!
The band has always been known as one of the "must-see" live acts, always producing an incendiary performance and a party atmosphere for the audience.
With a back catalogue to die for, making the Blockheads one of the most dynamic and entertaining acts this country has ever produced!
Sex & Drugs & Rock n' Roll couldn't be more appropriate! AN UNMISSABLE GIG !!
