A fascinating self-guided tour. Pick up a free leaflet from the Custom House Visitor Centre and discover the exciting history of Exeter's City Wall, or you can download this here.
The oldest parts of the wall are almost 2000 years old and it has been the site of many important historical events. Around 70% still exists. Follow the trail to discover colourful information panels at strtegic points. There are quizzes and puzzles for children to do, so bring paper and pencils.
Please note: There is currently no access between Northernhay Gardens and Rougemont Gardens through Athelstan's Tower, so after panel 2 please head back to Northernhay Place, turn right onto Bailey Street then turn right again onto Castle Street and follow the road uphill to reach the Norman Gatehouse.
