Exeter’s flagship leisure centre St Sidwell's Point is located in the heart of the city, which means it is the perfect start to a family day out in Exeter.
The kids can burn some energy in the outstanding swimming pools – the state of the art filtration system means you won’t need to worry about an overpowering smell of chlorine and stinging eyes!
Both the traditional 25 metre pool and the 20 metre learner pool feature a fully moveable floor, which means that the depth of the water can be adjusted for serious swimming or family fun! The confidence splash pool is the perfect place for your little ones to have their first swimming experience. It has a small slide, interactive feature lighting and bubble seating area for happy splashing!
You’ll also find the centre is nice and warm. St Sidwell’s Point is built to Passivhaus standards, so draughts are almost completely eliminated… to the extent where air loss is less than the surface area of a swimming float for the whole building!
After your swim, take a moment to chill out in the café with a smoothie while the kids burn off some more energy in the soft play area, a fun and safe space with soft building bricks, rope bridge, slide, activity boards, log steps and much more. The soft play area is free for Exeter Leisure members or £2 for non-members.
After all this activity everyone should have built up a good appetite. It’s a 10 minute walk to Queen Street, where there is plenty of choice for lunch, from pizza to world foods at Guildhall Shopping & Dining, delicious pies at Pieminister, healthy and vegan delights at the Daily Bowl and sweet treats at Big Bakes.
Once you’re refreshed and recharged, visit the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, where 16 galleries of displays will take you on a voyage of discovery from pre-history to the present day and from Exeter all around the world, completely free of charge!
