Festival season is in full swing and we've got an access all areas pass to guide you around a top line-up of live music venues in Exeter.
Your new favourite band or artist is just waiting to be discovered and the best part is there's no need to pack any wellies or a tent!
The Old Firehouse
Friday is live music night at The Old Firehouse and while the entertainment is certainly worthy of being the headline act, it's reputation as being one of Exeter's best ale and cider pubs is a notable support act pulling in the crowds. Also on the bill is their famous square pizzas, large enough for a group to share or put in a solo performance.
Exeter Phoenix
Hosting hundreds of events and artists in their packed programme each year, you'll find a musical line-up spanning all genres and ages at Exeter Phoenix. This is where rock giants Arctic Monkeys and Biffy Clyro have previously performed along with Lee “Scratch” Perry and Willy Mason pulling in the crowds.
Exeter Corn Exchange
From Elvis and Whitney to Fleetwood Mac, AC/DCP, Pink Floyd and Queen, if you enjoy your tribute acts belting out all the classics then the Exeter Corn Exchange has a set list to rival anywhere. That's not to say original acts don't also perform here but you'll need to be quick as the shows are often a sell out, pulling in crowds from far and wide.
Exeter Cavern
The name says it all and you've not experienced live music in Exeter unless you've been to the Cavern. Hosting live music since 1991, with the idea of bringing international talent to Exeter, and simultaneously giving a platform to Exeter bands, it's THE place to be if you want to say that you saw them here first. In over three decades it's seen the likes of Coldplay, Muse, The 1975, George Ezra, Bastille and many more take to the hallowed Cavern stage and perform intimate sets to audiences.
Westpoint Exeter
Exeter's biggest venue for large scale spectacular shows and concerts, Westpoint Exeter has welcomed a world famous line-up of headline acts over the years that's included David Bowie, Elton John, Meat Loaf, Oasis, Robbie Williams and other huge names. Make sure you book early when tickets are released as the big names sell out fast!
University of Exeter Great Hall
No university would be complete without a music venue and the Great Hall has been entertaining crowds young (and old) for years. Standing at the heart of the Streatham Campus, there’s almost a sense that the University has evolved around the Great Hall itself – the hub of the action. It’s colourful roll call features the likes of Bob Marley, U2, Pink Floyd and Kaiser Chiefs, to name but a few.
