Showcasing a selection of the finest food and drink producers, in and around Devon, Powderham Food Festival returns on 5th and 6th October.
Serving up an exciting line-up of events, expert talks and cooking demonstrations, the annual chilli-eating contest will also be making an eagerly anticipated return. With so much to choose from across the weekend, we've put together a taster menu that's sure to whet your appetite.
Foodie heaven
With over 100 traders offering samples, delicious dishes to enjoy on-site, and high-quality produce to take home, this is a food festival that doesn't scrimp on the offerings. If your palate is craving something a little different then the 'World Foods' area will feature a mouth-watering array of street-food-style dishes, from fluffy bao buns and aromatic curries to vibrant Thai dishes.
For those with a sweet tooth then you'll be like a kid in a candy store as you choose from a delicious selection of creamy ice creams, sweet crepes, hot chocolate, indulgent fudge and plenty more.
Drink up
A food festival in name, it wouldn't be a proper festival unless there was a bountiful selection of drink offerings to complement the food. Sip on craft beers and distinctive ales, savour expertly locally distilled spirits, and enjoy refreshing artisanal soft drinks. Whether you’re in the mood for robust rums, zesty ginger beverages, or smooth liqueurs, there's something to delight all drinkers.
The Powderham Pub is also returning, serving up a refreshing selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Chilli eating contest
Amongst all the fun and entertainment there's some rather serious business taking place at Powderham Food Festival. One which calls upon people of a certain strong stomach to volunteer themselves for - the annual Chilli Eating Contest! The competition is sure to be hot, hot, hot and who will be crowned King of the Powderham Castle when it comes to chilli consumption?
Expert talks and live demonstrations
From cheese making and honey-production insights to discovering the benefits of gut health and sustainable cider-making practices, enjoy a variety of expert talks and live demonstrations across the weekend. Watch, taste and even get involved, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy.
Get crafty
A selection of talented local artisans will be showcasing a treasure trove of handcrafted gifts. From exquisite handmade silver jewellery and one-of-a-kind beach-inspired art to playful screen-printed clothing and stunning resin seascapes, browse and pick up some authentic Devon produce direct from the hands who lovingly crafted them.
