We don't like to put a curse on things but you just can't trust the British weather so it's good to have a back up plan in case rain stops play this February half-term.
Exeter is home to lots of fantastic indoor and all-weather attractions to leave the kids entertained and parents happy. Here's our top 5 picks...
RAMM
Come rain or shine RAMM is the place to be this half-term if you're looking for some fun, and and educational, activities to help keep young ones entertained. The museum is also free to visit and children will love gazing in awe at all the worldly displays on show.
18th February - 'Mask making' (£3.50 per child)
19th February - 'Pitter-patter - make a rain stick' (£3.50 per child)
20th February - 'The Dartmoor puppets' prehistoric adventure!' (£3.50 per person)
Don't miss your last chance to experience 'RAMM Dartmoor: A Radical Landscape', which runs up until 23rd February. This contemporary art exhibition explores Dartmoor’s evocative landscape through photography, film and Land Art, showing artwork from 1969 to 2024.
Museum of the Moon, Exeter Cathedral
The moon is back at Exeter Cathedral! If you didn't see it before (and even if you did it's worth another visit), Museum of the Moon will be shining brightly throughout February from the Cathedral nave. The famous installation measures an incredible seven-metres and with an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents five kilometres of the moon's surface. Under 18s, accompanied by a paying adult, can visit for free.
Underground Passages
There's one sure fire way of dodging the wet stuff this half-term, and any time of the year in fact, and that's by heading down to Exeter's Underground Passages. Originally built to house the pipes that brought clean drinking water into medieval Exeter, these are the only passages of this kind open to the public in Britain! You'll be taken on a memorable guided tour through narrow and dark passages before returning to the heritage centre which is packed with interactive exhibits and interpretation.
Quay Climbing Centre
The perfect all weather destination, The Quay Climbing Centre is great for kids who are full of energy and just love climbing. The expert instructors will guide you through the basics of climbing in their dedicated instruction zone and will soon have you scaling your first wall. There's also the Clip 'n Climb offering climbing challanges for anyone aged four years and up. The ideal venue for the active child - even better for the active family!
Swimming pools at Exeter Leisure
Make a splash this half-term and head on down to Exeter Leisure's swimming pools for lots of aquatic fun. Keep an eye out for Sid the Dog and lots of fun half-term activities to keep the kids (and parents) entertained.
