Exeter Library is the largest Library in Devon and is looked after by the charity Libraries Unlimited. We believe in the unlimited potential of library services across the UK to make a positive difference to people's lives and communities through a shared love of reading and access to a wide array of information and facilities.
Exeter Library has an exciting and varied programme of events and activities that celebrate the local community. The library has over 1km of shelves containing over 60,000 books, CDs and DVDs.
Exeter Library is also home to the Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centre, where you can access information and attend business events and workshops to support your business or start up. The library also houses the first FabLab to be located within a public library in England. FabLab Devon is a community creative space that provides access to a range of digital equipment and machinery.
We follow strict COVID-19 practices. Customers are to wear a face mask at all times, sanitise their hands on entry and sign in using the test and trace QR code. There is a one-way system and a limit to the number of people allowed in the building. Staff patrol the building and sanitise high contact areas on a regular basis. Returns items are quarantined for 72 hours before being placed back on the shelves.
Cafe: Exeter Library is home to the Owl and the Pussycat Cafe, where you can relax with a coffee or homemade cake.
BIPC: The British Library's Business and Intellectual Property Centre provides support to business owners, entrepreneurs and inventors using free resources, expert 1-1's and learning webinars.
FabLab: An area full of flexible computer-controlled machines that allow you to invent, make and share. You could print t-shirts, design & produce 3D prints, make beautiful, embroidered designs, laser cut dreamcatchers from wood or Perspex or CNC machine an electric guitar.
Meeting Rooms: Exeter Library has several meeting rooms that can be hired out. For more information, see https://www.visitexeter.com/conferences/plan/conference-venues/exeter-library-p1761713
