This year, we are celebrating Women's History Month in March alongside the upcoming Women's Rugby World Cup, which is coming to Exeter this summer.

Exeter has a remarkable history of women's rugby. This will be showcased throughout the month of March, with powerful black and white images displayed across the city of local female rugby players, coaches and staff, past and present.

The images highlight the dedication, strength, and achievements of women in Exeter's rugby story, and we will be sharing their stories and finding out what rugby means to them as an individual through inspirational quotes.

Because of Rugby....

Here are some of the quotes from women across the city, on what rugby means to them...

Exeter Chiefs' Merryn: 'Rugby has helped shape who I am, taught me determination, teamwork, and a love for the sport and the family and community that comes with it'.

Merryn - Exeter Chiefs

University of Exeter's Ellie: 'It has provided me lifelong friendships, taught me resilience and the value of teamwork. It's shaped my character on and off the field'.

Topsham's Holly: 'Because of rugby I have a place where I can truly be myself that also shows me how strong and powerful I am and can be'.
