With regular trains seven days a week, the Riviera Line is great for all kinds of trips, whether its arriving at your holiday destination, shopping, exploring the countryside or connecting to different parts of the county.
The Riviera Line runs along the South Devon coast between Exeter and Paignton, stopping at several picturesque seaside towns along the way. Travelling down two river estuaries and past dramatic cliff, sweeping along the sea wall and offers spectacular views of the River Exe estuary, English Channel coastline and magnificent red cliffs as it makes its way from bustling Exeter along the coastline.
Whilst you travel, look out for a variety of wildlife along the estuary and at Dawlish Warren, a designated wildlife reserve. The line also passes Powderham Castle, with deer grazing in the park lands.
The train takes you right alongside the sea to Teignmouth before travelling inland to the busy market town of Newton Abbot where the line divides. The Riviera Line carries on to Torquay and Paignton, the other line travels westward through the historic market town of Totnes to Plymouth and Cornwall with views across the South Hams and Dartmoor.
