Former Classic FM presenter, journalist and newscaster John Suchet is a lifelong fan of Beethoven as well as an expert on the composers life.
A very personal quest part travelogue, part memoir - this is the story of how Beethovens music has accompanied Suchet throughout his own life, taking him on a journey that led him from being an adventure-loving teenager to becoming an intrepid journalist entering the arena of a civil war-torn Beirut and beyond.
In search of the man behind his beloved music, Suchet traced Beethovens footsteps from Bonn to Vienna discovering along the way the life-changing power of music. This is a journey that is both literal as well as symbolic, bringing both men musician and writer most powerfully to life.
