Come along to our adults-only, after-hours night of delectable entertainment exploring and celebrating food in all its deliciousness. Experience the thrill of a tea dance as the South Devon Big Band play swing, funk, latin, soul and pop tunes with a full band of 24 players.
Witness the joy of the South West Lindy Hoppers as they twist and jive to the tunes. Will you take up the opportunity to learn some moves yourself in their dance workshop on the night? Don’t forget to swing by our craft area to fashion a fedora or whip-up a headband to really get into the old school spirit of things.
Watch live cheese making demos with Mary Quicke from the well-known Devon cheesemaking and farming family and join Nicola from Exe Chocolates to learn about the magical world of bean-to-bar chocolate production. Get creative in our food inspired still life drawing workshops with artist Bethan Welby – pick up a pencil and see whether you can capture the beauty of the produce on show.
Share your food memories and passions with others in our thoughtful writing sessions. What food makes you think of home? Award winning author Rachel de Thample, of River Cottage fame, will be there on the evening talking about fermentation and honey, providing samples and a chance to chat, as well as a book signing. Take a seat and listen to Martyn Bragg from Shillingford Farm talk about his experience as a farmer facing a globalised food system and how he and others respond to these pressures. Or learn more about food networks in Devon with Rebecca Sandover from Exeter Uni.
Join our curators as they guide you around our fine art collection – a Feast for the Eyes – and explore food related objects from RAMM’s collection up close. There will also be the chance to visit RAMM’s exhibition Food: Beyond the plate. If you’re feeling musical on the night pick up some utensils and have a go at learning the dying art of spoon playing, see if you can play along with others and perform a tune! Or simply relax and catch-up with friends over a drink.
