Easter in Exeter

This Easter, which falls from 18th to 21st April, our city is packed with lots of 'egg-citing' activities for the whole family to hop into. There's fun for everyone, whatever the weather, so check out our guide on how to for what's on in Exeter during the Easter holidays.

There's lots of fun, and educational, activities taking place at RAMM (Royal Albert Memorial Museum) over Easter as you can get crafty by making a corn dolly, learn the timeless art of basket weaving and even join an Easter chocolate lollipop making workshop. 

Visit Exeter Cathedral during the Easter holidays to enjoy fun family-friendly activities. There's an Easter egg hunt (7th - 17th April), Spring Flower Crowns and Easter Themed Crafts (7th - 9th April) and you can decorate your own Easter basket on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 April during Cathedral opening hours

A great way to explore the city and discover its rich history is with a daily, free Red Coat Guided Tour which set off from Cathedral Green. These fantastic tours don't need to be booked and will give you a local's insight into Exeter's fascinating past, visiting an array of places on route. For something completely different then head beneath the city streets and join a guided tour of Exeter's Underground Passages, the only ones of their type in the UK. Narrow, dark and exciting, they make for a truly memorable experience and great fun whatever the weather.

For theatrical minds then over at Exeter Phoenix imaginative young people are invited to create a stage play with award winning PaddleBoat Theatre Company. The four-day week will focus on Treasure Island and at the end of the week, friends and family will be welcomed to the Exeter Phoenix to watch the children perform their own version of the classic pirate adventure story.

This Easter, The Ivy Exeter is inviting families to spring into its restaurant and enjoy an exclusive 'Breakfast With Bunny' experience. Taking place on Sunday 20^th April, guests can book to enjoy curated breakfast menus for both adults and kids, fun and photos with The Ivy Bunny, as well as treats and goodies to take home. With delectable food and great company, 'Breakfast With Bunny' will provide the perfect start to a fabulously fun, family day out.

If it's family thrills and Easter activities you're looking for then Crealy Theme Park and Resort have you covered (especially in the wet!) at the South West's #1 family day out. Visit from 14^th to 21^st April where you’ll find an egg-citing adventure across the theme park. Solve the riddles and clues to claim your chocolate prize (under 14 year olds only).

Embark on an exciting Easter egg hunt amidst fairies and ferns at Canonteign Falls. Explore 90 acres, seek out hidden eggs, and revel in the scenic waterfalls, serene lakes, and adventure play areas. A magical opportunity to experience a one-of-a-kind encounter with Canonteign's very own alpacas takes places on 17th April and from 5th - 27th April take advantage of a free return visit to Canonteign Falls with every booking.

There's a crackin' Easter going down at Bear Town as the Easter Bunny has hidden eggs throughout the Town and needs help from some little bunnies to find them all. Once all the eggs have been found, all paid children will be given a very special Easter gift to take home and enjoy.

Join Seaton Tramway on 13^th & 20^th April for adventure on board the Dinosaur Tram. This adventure-filled tram ride will have music, stories, a fossil dig, and a dinosaur activity area at Colyton Station! Help the Palaeontologists uncover the secrets of a land that time forgot. The adventure will begin at Seaton where a specially decorated enclosed tram. At the Dinosaur Activity Area, there will be a Dinosaur Dig and Fossil Excavation site.

There's lots of Easter adventure to be found at the National Trust's Killerton House and Gardens. Follow the trail route around the garden and chapel grounds, where you'll be rewarded with a chocolate egg for completing all the fun-filled activities. You can even get your four-legged friend their very own dog friendly trail sheet.

Can you crack the egg-nigma code this Easter? Join the annual giant egg hunt at RHS Garden Rosemoor to hunt down the colourful eggs hidden throughout the beautiful spring gardens. Collect clues and solve puzzle along the way to claim a chocolatey treat as your reward. Pre-schoolers can also enjoy spending time in the garden by joining the Education Team for a Welly Walk adventure.

There are egg-citing Easter events throughout the holidays from 7^th to 21^st April at World of Country Life! Enjoy a full day out, including their Easter trail, and Easter crafts! You’ll find lots of fun things to do out and about and undercover!

At The Donkey Sanctuary follow the Easter Nature Trail around the sanctuary to discover what animals (besides donkeys) you could find living in the various habitats located across our land to claim a tasty Easter treat on completion. This entertaining Easter activity running from 1^st to 21^st April combines family fun, exercise and brainpower and is just £5 per trail, including an Easter egg on completion.

Little ones love a train journey and if you fancy a day out by the water, while leaving the car behind, regular GWR services depart from Exeter Central and Exeter St David's rail stations. Sit back and soak up the views along one of the country's most beautiful railway journeys for a day trip to the seaside towns of Dawlish and Teignmouth. Alternatively, take in the sights of the River Exe on the way to Exmouth where you can set sail with Stuart Line Cruises and enjoy a tour of our stunning coastline and wildlife. If the weather isn't looking too great then don't worry as our city is full of indoor activities and attractions that are full of fun and adventure. Quay Climbing Centre is the perfect place to experience the thrill of climbing, from the safety and comfort of being indoors. Home to one of the largest indoor climbing walls in the Southwest, young climbers can tackle Clip ‘n Climb while Boulder Exe offers another challenge to take on. For a mental, rather than physical, workout then test yourself in an escape room or embark on a tour around the city with self-guided city trail company, Go Quest Adventures.
