Wonk Unit

About

Wonk Unit have recently recorded their newest – and possibly heaviest - album 'Uncle Daddy,' which was largely written and recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic. It's perhaps their most collaborative work, which captures a year of isolation and sadness, as others laugh together around Alex's backyard skate bowl.

The album features the singles 'Cyclists', 'Summertime', 'Strength' and 'Raise My Glass', which received widespread praise and coverage by the likes of Steve Lamacq and Rodney Bingenheimer. Uncle Daddy captures everything that has made Wonk Unit a cult favourite in the UK punk scene- it's heavy but also experimental and humour-tinged, political but highly personal.

Supporting are Yur Mum, who make their Fine City debut. The Brazilian punk-rock duo are arguably one of the heaviest acts we have ever booked, but they are fantastic.

Think a multi-cultural band who share hopes, dreams, anger and anxieties through thunderous punk with a polished metal edge, performed in their own inimitable style.

Opening the night are local favourites I Said Goodbye, who make a welcome return to our local music world. Post punk/power pop for a post pandemic population.
