The Cosy Club in Exeter opened in April 2013 and is located on the ground floor of the old Dean Clarke Hospital’s Halford Wing in Southernhay. Entering through what was the hospital’s chapel entrance you arrive into a large, theatrical space with high ceilings and striking ‘institutional’ features. The building is split down the middle with the bar to your left as you enter and the restaurant filling the right hand side of the building. There’s also a terrace cantilevered off the back of the building where you’ll be able to enjoy the sunshine during the summer months. Cosy Club Exeter takes the meaning of the word ‘quirky’ to a different level; the bar is inspired by an operating table and is illuminated with surgical lighting whilst the walls are adorned with oil paintings, taxidermy, anatomical charts, and Eastern Bloc propaganda. Added to which is the usual eclectic mix of reclaimed furniture, opulent Victorian lampshades and original 1960’s Concorde hangar lights and there you have it. Oh, and if you’re feeling fancy, why not dine in ‘The Snug’, a Victorian tarot card reader's inspired room which can seat up to 14 people. There’s nothing quite like the Cosy Club in Exeter, or even Devon for that matter, that is for sure.
A bit of knife and fork…
The Cosy Club’s menu majors on comfort food classics as well as offering an extensive brunch menu served until 5pm, a decent variety of sandwiches, and a great selection of tapas. Whatever the occasion, we’ll have something delicious enough to tickle your fancy. We’re always cooking up a storm and launching new dishes as well as keeping our Cosy Club favourites. Don’t forget to ask your server for a Kid’s Menu. We’re proud to be able to offer flexibility with a full gluten free and full vegan menu to cater for all. Please take a look at the menus below, we find it hard to recommend as everything is so scrumptious!
Pass the Port…
Whatever your tipple the Cosy Club aims to please. You can expect great coffee (and cake), an eclectic soft drinks selection (award winning actually), a fantastic selection of draught beer/cider/ale (which our clubs source locally where possible), a compact list of decent plonk, a nicely proportioned list of creative and classic cocktails and a cracking back bar to boot. Whatever your needs, we’ve got it covered.
Cosy Club also hold a variety of wonderful events, visit https://cosyclub.co.uk/whats-on/?loc=exeter&month=022020 to find out more.
