The Galley is a charming seafood restaurant in historical Topsham, overlooking the River Exe estuary. From these surrounding waters comes the freshest, much sought-after fish and seafood. With such a bountiful larder of Devon’s coast and countryside, the family-run team proudly serves the very best of Devon on a plate.
For over 30 years, The Galley has been welcoming guests with fish and shellfish caught on dayboats that pass the shores daily. Head Chef, Jason Mead lets the produce speak for itself, letting natural flavours shine through. Dishes are intense, clean and immaculately presented.
Now into our 10th year, Maître D’, Nigel Mitchell has guided the helm. Previously at The Seafood Restaurant alongside Rick Stein, Nigel understands the nuances of what makes hospitality great. It is his knowledge, charm and care that leaves you feeling better than when you went in, possibly helped along by the carefully selected wine list. With brine in the blood, as Head Waiter his son Patrick is equally passionate about seafood and brings dishes to life as he works the restaurant floor.
They offer a set lunch, two courses are only £18, and three courses are only £22!
M5 junction 30 follow signs to Exeter then to Topsham, once in Topsham, follow signs for the Quay, The Galley restaurant is situated behind The Lighter Inn overlooking the River.
T Bus or the 57 from Exeter, stopping outside The Lord Nelson, walk down through the High Street & shops, you’ll pass The Globe Hotel, and as you turn the corner The Galley is on the left hand side over looking the river.
