In an increasingly technical world, two men share a love of craft by hand. Tom, a thatcher and writer, describes a journey of discovery, leaving an office job in the city to find fulfilment among the Devon roofs, as well as the stories of six other people who share his trade. In Ingrained, Callum’s memoir, written after returning to woodwork, is an uplifting meditation on the challenges of working with your hands in our modern age, on community, consumerism, and the beauty of the natural world - one that asks us to see our local trees, and our own wooden objects, in a new and revelatory light.
